Definitions
Greater Good Portfolio
The collection of ideas and inventions (designs) in this part of our web site.
Design
A Design is the material on this web site pertaining to a particular design or
invention, along with its know-how.
Intention
The Intention of the Greater Good Portfolio is to enable inventions and other
ideas which cause good to individuals mankind or animals, including the promotion of
peace, well-being, prosperity, and the protection of the environment, to be made
available by their inventors to commercial and other implementors, so that those
inventions and designs and the good envisaged may be realised. The inventors of those
designs ask little more than due recognition for their efforts, and take their reward
from the knowledge that they have, in some measure, increased the greater good of
society.
Prohibited Purpose
A Prohibited Purpose is any purpose where (i) the main use would cause harm or
distress to any human being or animal, or (ii) would cause net damage to the
environment or ecology of this planet or (iii) is unlawful in the appropriate
jurisdiction.
Permitted Purpose
A Permitted Purpose is any purpose, including commercial, which is in line with
the Intention. It excludes a Prohibited Purpose or conducting any patent infringement
litigation EXCEPT patent litigation defence.
Use (a Design)
A Design is Used when You embody it or use it or any part of that Design for
any purpose beyond that of simply reading or assessing that Design in a desk-top
evaluation.
Submitter
A Submitter is, in respect of any particular design, the person or organisation
that submitted it to this web site.
You
You is you, your organisation, anyone on whose behalf you are acting, or anyone
to whom you pass Design material from this web site on to.
Us or We
Are any individual or organisation associated with this web site, and (in respect of a
particular Design) the Submitter(s) of that Design.
Agreement
In Consideration of Your agrement to abide by the terms of this licence, the
Submitter(s) of each Design grants You, subject to these terms, a royalty-free world-wide
non-exclusive licence to read or Use such IPR as the Submitter(s) may have in the Design.
the licence is automatically revoked whilst You are in breach of any of its terms;
You will not patent or otherwise encumber any derivative work of the Design;
You grant to the Submitter(s) and any other user of the Design a Greater Good Licence
to use any IPR you may happen to have in the Design;
You are not obliged to disclose any improvements you may make to the Design, so whilst
You may not prevent others making the same improvement, you don't have to help
them to do so;
You will refrain from suing, or assisting others to sue, Us for breach of any IPR you
or others may have in that Design;
this licence does not extend nor purport to extend to any element of the Design which
is the IPR of a third party, whether acknowledged in the Design or not;
You will only pass a Design on to a third party where that third party agrees to be
bound by this Licence, including this term;
You acknowledge that neither We, nor indeed any person or corporation represents or
warrants that any Design is (i) good for any particular purpose; (ii) free from IPR
restrictions; (iii) safe, efficient, or effective; (iv) compliant with the rules,
regulations, or laws of any particular jurisdiction;
Should You choose to Use the Design or any part of it, You will:
only use the Design for a Permitted Purpose;
conduct and rely on Your own due diligence regarding Your right to use the
IPR in the design;
perform all safety testing and assessments Yourself;
check that the Design and its use is lawful where-ever You deploy it.
refrain from suing, or assisting others to sue, the Publishers and any
Submitter of any Design in the Greater Good Portfolio for breach of
any IPR You or others may have in any Design;
indemnify and hold Us harmless against any cost arising from Your Use of the
Design;
acknowledge on all documentation (including electronic) (i) the Submitter of
the Design, (ii) this Greater Good Portfolio, and (iii) this licence;
where possible describe on this web site any successful realisation of the
Design;
by way of thanks give due consideration (but not in a way which is legally
binding) to giving the Submitter of the Design one instance of your usage of
it;
You may sell and make profits from implementations of the Design or parts of
the Design, and You may make revenue in other ways from the Design, such as
assistance in using implementations of the Design.
This agreement is governed under the laws of England and is subject to the jurisdiction
of the English courts.
Submitters
If You submit material to the Greater Good Portfolio, You also agree that You:
are not knowingly breaching the IPR of a third party;
grant the 'Greater Good Licence' to any and all third parties who agree to abide by
its terms;
will not submit any Design for a Prohibited Purpose.
Readers
By downloading or otherwise reading any Design from the Greater Good
Portfolio, you agree that You do so under the terms of the Greater Good Licence, and to
which You agree to be bound.
